About Us

Welcome to the Catford Women’s Institute (WI).

Who are we?

We are a diverse group of women that prides itself on being welcoming and inclusive.

Started in 2010, we are part of the London District of the West Kent Federation of WIs.

When do we meet?

We meet monthly, except in August (see meetings and events section) at Catford Cricket and Sports Club in Penerly Road.

We also meet informally once a month for a social evening of darts, crafts, games and chat.

What do we do at meetings?

Meetings include a mixture of talks, activities, crafts and food related evenings. Past meetings have included craft sessions like mosaics, glass fusion, card making, ceramic painting, flower arranging and cake decorating. We’ve learnt how to play whist, belly dance and self defence, met birds of prey and tried tasting chocolate and cheese. We have also welcomed an array of interesting and entertaining speakers. Some evenings are more general social nights where we bring food and drink and have time to get to know each other better.

What else do we do?

As well as our meetings, we also have a walking group (both country and city walks), 2 darts teams, a book club, a card group, cocktail and supper clubs, a theatre group (going to, not acting in!) and we arrange  outings which are often open to family and friends  These interest groups and activities are initiated by our members, so anyone with an idea can start one.

 Can I join?

We have now grown so popular we have had to cap our membership at 70 due to the size of the hall. However we do run a waiting list. Please contact us for more details through the contact page.
